Tidy towns beach clean up April 13th.
On Sunday 13th April, Fountainstown's Tidy Towns organized a clean up of the area. There was a great turn out of local residents, who came with loads of enthusiasm. A team went to the back beach where they found as much debris as you would get from a sunken yacht. The team filled Paddy's van to bursting point with debris and rubbish. Others cleaned the front beach, cliff path, roadside to Hodder's corner, the coast road, the car park and the lane beside it. There was still a lot of rubbish left from the storms and flooding, but the volunteers put their backs into the task and filled bag after bag. So now, Fountainstown is looking much improved and fairly sparkled in the lovely spring sunshine. Angela's shop rewarded all the hard work with free ice creams! Most gratefully received. It was a pleasure to sit outside the cafe eating an ice cream in the sunshine, looking at a lovely clean Fountainstown.
Well done to everyone who came and gave of their time and contributed to our village.

Thanks again to everyone who turned up and helped with the clean up. Thanks also to O'Connell Cleaning Services for supplying some of the clean up equipment and Angela's shop for providing 'post clean up' refreshments.
Information about the next clean up will be posted here as soon as a date has been decided upon.
